When To Start Weight Bearing On Leg After Tibial Plateau Fracture?

I had surgery a month ago for a broken Tibial Plateau, Surgeon told me emphatically NO weight bearing for 12 weeks. After 4 weeks I saw a Dr. closer to where I live who ex-rayed my leg and told me that I could start weight bearing and remove my brace. How do I know who to believe?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query.

Ideally , you should consider the opinion of the treating Surgeon who performed this Surgery because ultimately ,
Since
he is the one who observed the status of Tibial plateau himself.
usually after 8-12 weeks , after radiological assessment ,
Orthopaedic surgeons
allow
patients weight bearing and sometimes with Crutches during the initial period of movement
and
gradually shift to the movement without Crutches

you Should follow the instructions given by your Surgeon instead of Gp or this Closer Dr. because he is specialized in such things and deals every day.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
