Which Is A Best Replacement For Potassium Supplements?

I was just told again that my labs taken this morning that my potassium is low and that I should me taking 20mg potassium suppliments but I tried that and cannot use them no matter what dosage I wind up living in the bathroom wth uncontrolled bowel movements. Is there some other (food etc) that I can take on a daily basis . I am being treated for high blood pressure hctz 20-25 mg per day and synthorid 10mg per day and cholestroel med 20 mg per day. I have COPD and take adviair 2 puffs twice a day. I have lost 10 lbs this month and am not dieting and I feel very tired by noon. C an you suggest something to replace my postassium other then a suppliment?

Hi,
You are prescribed 20 mg of potassium /day& you find that you pass it out due to uncontrolled motion. If you don't have such problem ( IBS) ,mostly that's because you are taking chemical supplement ,your bowel getting irritated to pass it out without digesting.
I would suggest few natural sources of potassium.they will be digested well because, they have other food contains too.Have a serving of any one of them daily & check your serum potassium after 15 days ( mostly improved )
_ Spinach( 1 cup raw),/ white beans ( 1 cup cooked),/ Fish ( one fillet/baked potato with skin( one average size), dried apricots ( 1/2 cup), /banana ( moderate size).
In case this does not help, consult a gastroenterologist for bowel)s/ cardiologist for further management.
Thanks.
