Hello.
There is no single medicine or mode of treatment that can be called the best for
depression. You might be aware that there is a variety of anti-depressant medication available today, which are good effective medicines with minimal possible side effects, compared to earlier decades. You have a wider variety of choice these days.
Apart from medicines, you can also go for
Psychotherapy, which is a proven way of dealing with the inner conflicts and beliefs that create emotional disturbances.
To take care of the acute symptoms of depression, you can think of the new generation anti-depressants, such as Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (
Fluoxetine, Excitalopram, etc.) or Serotonin-
Norepinephrine Re-uptake Inhibitors and a few others. You should take these medicines with your doctors prescription.
If you feel there are certain issues that keep on worrying you, consider going for a course of psychotherapy. You can combine medicines and psychotherapy for a more beneficial effect.
Hope this helps.
