White Patches On Skin That Seem To Be Dry And Flaky At Times, No Improvement With Anti-fungal Creams. Help?
I have noticed white patches on my skin, mainly trunk area. Some are about the size of chicken pox and some about the size of a penny. I think the ones that are smaller are due having pityriasis rosea and they are scars. However the ones on my breast more bigger, dry and flakey a times. I saw a Physician and she said it was tinea vesicolor and prescribed me antifungal cream. Didnt change it. Please help
your physician has diagnosed it as tinea versicolor, which is caused by a fungus which is normally present on our body. in certain favourable conditions it proliferates. there occurs hypo pigmented patches, mild or no itching , scaling may be present as in your case. it may take about one to two months to go but may be recurrent
The following may be of help:
apply antifungal cream as prescribed
You may take oral anti fugal tab like fluconazole under prescription
Antifugal soap or lotion durnig bath
maintain good hygiene
monthly pulse of antifungal medications to prevent recurrance
Hope this helps you
