I have right ear pain & sore throat age 54, smoker. Went to doctor 7 days ago. No redness in ear & strep test negative. Was given antibiotics as a precaution. Just completed meds and no change. Still sore ear and throat. Should I get more meds? How long does an ear ache last? This is a first for me.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear pain and sore throat which seems to be due to leftover upper respiratory tract infection leading to eustachian tube dysfunction. Need not to worry. You should maintain ear cleanliness. Do warm saline gargles. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after thorough examination. You should get otoscopic examination done. Take proper course of antibiotics such as Levofloxacin along with anti inflammatory medication such as Levocetirizine. You should maintain complete oral hygiene. Put otogesic ear drops. Avoid pricking ear with any sharp object.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
