Why Am I Suffering From Sleep Paralysis, Headacges, Numbness In Hands And Legs?

Hi...for the last year I have been having sleep paralysis, where i feel I cant breathe and that my legs and arms are numb. Now this has progressed into tingling in my left arm and I also have a constant headache. I have got a cat since all this began, could I be allergic?! I am also on microgynon and when i come off this after taking it for 3 weeks the tingling stops. Thanks

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to a hormonal imbalance.

Besides, sleep paralysis does not induce difficulty breathing. This could be just a psychological disorder.

Do you have attacks of sleep during the day or increased sleepiness?

This could be related to narcolepsia, which is a sleep disorder.

I would exclude any possible allergic reaction related to your symptoms.

I would recommend stopping microgynon.

Besides, a polysomnography would be necessary to exclude possible sleep disorder.

Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Aida
