Why Am I Feeling Terrible Numbness In The Right Hand?
im aarush and im having disease called neurocysticercosis....was getting seizures last year and now its under control as using oxetol medication ...before used valporate wich dint control my seizure ....oxetol has benifited me a lot n is goin on still.....also taking lorazapam as an sos .......but still feeling numbness in my right hand , terrible numbness and also the feeling that seizure will come at any time
Neurocysticercosis is a lot more common than I think most physicians know about and causes a lot of suffering. I assume you have been treated as best as possible with anti-parasitic medications like Albendazole. I know at times surgical removal of the cysts are required to relieve symptoms. There is not enough clinical studies done to know which of the anti-epileptic medications work the best for preventing seizures but I suspect you may need a combination of them to relieve your symptoms. One single agent may not be enough.
The numbness could be from the anti-seizure medications itself or from a brain lesions from the parasite itself. Without a CT scan of the brain it is hard to speculate but I am guessing if you did complete a prolonged course of Albendazole then the symptoms you have are likely coming from persist brain lesions containing the parasite and surgery may be the only option to relieve your symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
