Why Are My Bowel Movements Hard And Bloody?

I am having trouble having bowel movements. It is so hard to go at times, that I help get it out with my fingers. Is this dangerous to do. Plus I get some blood on my fingers when I do. Should I call my primary doctor. I am on pain medications, oxycodone, if this information helps.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the constipation started after the intake of oxycodone, this seems to be drug induced constipation.

My recommendations at present
- drink more liquids
- high fiber diet
- bulk forming laxatives
- stop further doses of oxycodone
- inform your doc regarding the issue and follow further directions as per your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
