Why Are Polyps Recurring In Case Of Samter's Triad While Taking Aspirin?
I have Samter's Triad. Had nasal surgery many times..Most recently in 2006 and 2012. Went through aspirin desenstization in 2012, but polyps are slowly beginning to return. I am now 52 and each surgery gets me a little more worried. Is it really safe to have nasal surgery every 5-6 years? What is the life expectancy of Samter's Triad person? (Should I retire early at 62 because I don't have much time left...or work until 70 because I may need surgery every 6 years, but will probably live like my parents into my 80s anyway)
hello. i dont think you should be worried, the life expectancy is the same as normal people , i know a few patients with samters triad . who are in their late eighties now. so i dont think you should be concerned. polyps are an allergic phenomenon , and wil be recurrent, however all may not be operated. the nly time you need surgery is when it is causing you nasal block.i would recommend you can discuss this with your ENT physician. he will be asle to relieve your anxiety. thnanks
