Why Could Lupigest Capsule Be Prescribed With US Showing Fetal Pole In Right Side Of Uterus With No Heartbeat With 6 Week Pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant. My doctor gave me Lupigest 200 capsule. I have my Ultrasound yesterday where she saw fetal pole in right side of uterus with no heartbeat yet and suggested this medicine and told me to wait for 2 weeks more . Is there something to worry about and what is this medicine for?

Hello and welcome,

I understand your concern.
Presence of fetal pole is a good sign. However as there was no heart beat there is a small chance that it may be a missed abortion or it may just be too early for the beat to be seen.

Lack of progesterone is a common cause of abortion and progesterone support helps if the baby is well and many times a heart beat is seen after repeat scan 2 weeks later.

So progesterone is used to help support the pregnancy and prevent abortion.

As of now, just take it and wait for 2 weeks. If the heart beat is seen, then the baby is well and there should not be any worrries.
