Why Did I Have Incredibly Dark, Thick And Purple Menstrual Bleeding?

I am 36. My periods have started to become irregular, however the menstrual blood is always the same color and consistency for the most part. This month it is incredibly dark, thick and purple. What does this indicate? For what reasons might a woman experience this. Thank you.

Hello!
Thanks for your query.

Usually a 'thicker' flow just indicates a thicker lining build up.
This happens from time to time ,especially if it is 'late'
The color varies from as there may be a combination of endometrial tissue, old blood, newer blood and at times clots, which may appear purple.
Usually isn't a concern unless the bleeding becomes quite heavy.
Take care of your self
