Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm a 16 year old female that started getting a cough two days ago. It has progressed from a small cough and a cold to hard coughing that hurts both the chest and throat in a short amount of time. I also feel very shaky and faint. Throughout the day I felt as if I was ready to have a fainting spell. Is this just a cold?
I understand your concern. Regarding to your symptoms it seems like you have pneumonia, since it is hurting while you are coughing. My suggestion is to visit your GP and check up your lungs to get proper therapy. You will probably get penicillin group of antibiotics if you are not allergic or azitromycin. It depends on the sort of pneumonia you have. You can also take paracetamol every 4-6 hours 500 mg up to maximum 4g daily.
I hope this answer was helpful to you and I hope that you will listen to my advice and visit your GP.
