Why Do I Have A Lump Like Sensation In Throat With Post-nasal Drainage?

Hi, have had a lot of post nasal drainage and a feeling of a lump in my throat that wont go away, It has been a little over a week, I have tried nasal washes, prescription nasal sprays, sudaphed, I havent been able to eat because of feeling in my throat. I have been told it is not a sinus infection

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump like sensation in throat with post-nasal drainage which can occur due to may reasons colds ,flu , allergies and deviated septum. Sometimes such type of symptoms can also occur due to acid reflux also. I would suggest you to eat light and non spicy , eat small meals frequently, take antacid after every meal. If condition doesn't get well then consult ENT specialist again . Doctor may order CT scan , allergy test and blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) because sometimes residual infection remain even after surgery . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist in case of acid reflux. Also do warm saline gargles and take steam thrice a day to relieve the congestion.
