Why Do I Have A Numb Feeling In Cheek And A Growing Lump In Neck, After A Parotidectomy
In April 2014 I had a parotidectomy (left), it was biegn. The scar healed nicely. The only nerve side affect was loss of all feeling in my earlobe. No big deal. But now, I am beginng to lose feeling in my cheek from my jaw line almost to my chin. Plus there is a lump in my neck in front of the scar. It appears to be slowly growing. Is this scar tissue, or something needing checked?
hello. you must get it checked by your doctor as soon as you can, as the swelling may represent a recurrence of the previous lesion and the loss in sensation may represent a nerve compression by this swelling. thanks
Hello, I am Your ENT Splst, Dr. Samiron Roy, 1] The loss of feeling sensation of your left ear lobe was due to the injury to a sensory nerve called Great Auricular Nerve due to the skin incision. It is quite common and in due course the nerve will regenerate and the sensation will come back. 2] The loss of sensation in your cheek and your jaw line is due to involvement of the Mandibular branch of Trigeminal nerve (V 3). in the left side. This cannot be explained by the operation. 3] The new lump in front if the scar needs attention. You better get a FNAC Test done from the lump and let me know the cytology report. Till then start on:- 1) Tab Chymoral Forte 1 TDS X 10 days, 2) Tab Ceftum 500 mg 1 BDS X 10 days.
