I am a type 2 diabetic. I am taking Metformin, Januvia and Glyburide. My blood sugar levels are 120-130 at night, but spike up to 197 or higher in the morning. I am in fear of being put on insulin because I feel it will shorten my life. I am 44 years old.
hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
The sugar level you have mentioned are higher than normal.
If such thing happens more than a couple of times, when the levels become uncontrolled persistently, Check HbA1c gives sugar level for the last 3 months. If that is high with the present drug, either the dose is increased or a new drug is added to the present drug after discussing with your treating doctor.
Insulin is prescribed as a last option. Insulin doesn't reduce your life. Don't fear of it. Its not true.
Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you. Dr Phanindra Dulipala
