Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi madam i can understand your concern.
i am very sorry for your condition.
let me brief about medications and their relative potency in diabetes.
In diabetes the most potent is insulin but you are not on it so let's forget about that
The next rank in potency should be given to sulphonylurea drugs they are of four types 1.glibenclamide
2.glimipride(Amaryl)
3.glipizide,gliclazide
next comes drugs called insulin sensitizers they are metformin and pioglitazone
next comes DPP 4 inhibitors sitagliptin(januvia) and vildagliptin,saxagliptin,linagliptin.....etc

in my clinic for patients who are having low sugars with potent medication they will be advised to take less potent medications.
But people who are already on potent medications like Amaryl with uncontrolled diabetes, stopping of amaryl will make sugars to raise more.
stopping piolet is a good idea because it is having some bone related issues in elderly female population and also cause weight gain.
i suggest to speak with your doc in restarting amaryl along with other medication and stop piolet.
Hope I was able to help you.
If you have any further question feel free to write me back. I will be happy to help.
Take care.
Best Regards.
