Hello dear,
Glucose tolerance test has a specific indication.
if your blood glucose level between normal person and diabetes means not able to diagnose diabetes but higher than normal value.
It is not related to taking sugar in beverages .
These indication are as follow:
1. Fasting plasma glucose of ≥7 mmol/L, if reproduced and outside of context
of acute illness, is diagnostic of
diabetes mellitus.
2. However, fasting plasma glucose alone will fail to diagnose around 30% of
cases of diabetes.
3. OGTT is the only means of identifying people with IGT.
4. An OGTT is frequently needed to confirm or exclude an abnormality of
glucose tolerance in asymptomatic people.
5. An OGTT should be used in individuals who are suspected of having diabetes
and who have a fasting venous plasma glucose of 6.1-6.9 mmol/L, to
determine glucose tolerance status.
Hope this advice may help you.
take care.
Have a nice day.
Thank you.
