Why Is 2D Echo Suggested Before Oerating For Esophageal Atresia ?

Name: Neeraj verma Age: 32 Yrs I am having a son 9 months old,he is suffering from a problem of esophageal atresia ,he is about to operate for the same when he will be 1 year old,the doctors have suggested us to get a 2D echo test before the operate,I just want to ask why this test have been recommended and what impact it will have on his operate?

yes,2D echo is a very important investigation before going for surgery..the reason is eosophageal atresia is associated with congenital heart problems ..it is done to rule out cardiac defects..eosophageal atresia is also associated with anorectal anomaly,omphalcele,etc..it occurs as a syndrome usually
