Duphaston is a dihydrogesterone drug used in the following cases:
1) Treatment of dysmenorrhoea
2) Endometriosis
3) Irregular cycles
4) Secondary amenorrhea
5) Pre-menstrual syndrome
6) Threatened abortion
7) Habitual abortion
8) Treatment of
infertility due to luteal insufficiency
In habitual abortions, 1 tablet is taken twice daily up to 20th week of
pregnancy. Duphaston acts by improving corpus luteal supporting reduce the incidence of pregnancy loss in threatened abortion during first trimester of pregnancy in women without any history of pregnancy loss.
In the case of habitual abortions, which is defined as loss of 3 or more consecutive pregnancies without known pathology of mother or fetus, Duphaston is helpful. If your gynecologist has sensed any danger of threatened abortion I your case, she might have recommended Duphaston. Kindly ask your gynecologist once before you take the medicine.
