Why Is Klor-Con Prescribed To A Patient Taking Potassium Gluconate?
What is the difference between potassium gluconate 595 mg and Klor-Con 10 E 10EMEQ Tab. ? I was prescribed the Klor-con . my doctor changed my script to KLOR-Con /EF tabs. My mother takes the potassium gluconate 595mg. I wanted to see if. Mom would be able to take the Klor-Con instead of just throwing it away i had it refilled the week before it was changed.
Hi & Welcome. Basically both these medications (supplements) are prescribed to treat Hypokalemia (serum potassium concentration below 3.5 mmol/L). Potassium Gluconate 595 mg equals 2.5 meq of potassium & Klor-Con 10 is equivalent to 10 meq of potassium. So, One tablet of Klor-Con 10 can be substituted for 4 tablets of Potassium Gluconate. Hope this will help your mom.
