Why Is It Taking So Long To Get Pregnant ?

My partner and I were trying for a baby for 18 months. We had had the blood tests and sperm analasys, and so were waiting for an appointment to come thru for the clinic for further tests. During that time I got pregnant naturally, sadly due to a placental abruption caused by a serious infection, our son was born early @ 29 wks gestation. He lived for 6 days and then died of complications. What i wanted to know is, why does it take so long for me to get pregnant? I m a fairly healthy 27 year old woman, with no genetic issues, no congenital diseases, I had chlamydia 5 years ago, but was treated very quickly after infection.

You and your partner are trying for getting baby, but sometimes it happens that due to lack of knowledge couple is not able to have baby.
firstly you need to know regarding ovulation.
Ovulation occurs on 12th to 14th day of menstrual cycle and life of sperm is 72 hrs so if you want to concieve you have to have relations from 9th to 17 th day of your cycle so there are highest chances of getting pregnant. If you have relations on other days it would be worthlesss
So firstly you try to have relations during these days and then also within 3-4 months if you are not able to concieve then you both need complete medical evaluation for becoming parents.

Hope this helps

We did all of that for for 18 months, we changed our diets to a more healthy one, I stopped drinking, neither of us smoke, partner doesn't drink at all. We took Pregnacare vitamins and partner took Wellman vitamins to try and help. I really couldn't cope with having to wait another 18 months for another baby. I think I'd lose my mind!
