Why Is Swelling In Ankle Persistent After Undergoing Surgery For Closed Trimalleolar Fracture?
I had surgery for Closed Trimalleolar Fracture on 9/4/13. my ankle is still swollen and just the last few days it has started to hurt. Should I go back to my Dr. or wait till my next appt. in March? I also have 3 screws in. Do they need to come out?
First , if there is no pain do not worry about swelling as it is going to stay for long time. it can last up to 6 months. It is how bone heals and it is nothing to be worried about. Screws can be removed after 1 year, but not necessary to remove them.
