Why Is The Vein On Neck Tapped Before An Epidural Injection?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...i just went for my second set of epidural/steroid injection and doctor went to start with the right side of my neck and kept hitting vein with needle ,so he had me sit up and went to back of my neck instead.why was he hitting the vein and why do i hurt on the right side of my neck and down into arm and shoulder
You seem to suffer from missed trials causing nerve hits with pain in right of the neck and down in arm or shoulder. With expertise in epidural, its a simple procedure for epidural injections. But being a blind procedure and personal variations in bone alignment in the neck, you do hit nearby bones or veins and nerves sometimes. But it recovers with pressure and medicines. Don't worry. Just bring it to notice of your doctor who would plan care accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
