Why Is There Tiredness After Menopause In An Asthmatic Patient Suffering From Sleep Apnea?

I am a female who is 50 years old and have not had a period in over a year. I have gained a lot weight in stomach, breasts and hips. I have had increases is breast size as well as everywhere else, and sometimes I will notice there is a readness to them. I am reading about menopause, but uncertain if something else is going on. I have other health problems where I find that my kidney out put is some dimished and retain a lot of water. I have asthma and have extreme fatigue from this, and I have sciatic down my right leg and down to right foot. I just feel weaker over all most of the time. I was diagnosed a year ago of having sleep apnea. During my sleep I would wake up catching my breath, but even wearing the sleep apnea mask during the night I still feel very tired all the time. What should I be doing, or wait out the menopause and live through it all.

Hello,
I can see it is a difficult time for you right now but things can be helped. try out the following measures-

1. get routine blood test including thyroid, LFT, Lipid profile, kidney function test and vit D levels & treat if disturbed.

2. get blood pressure readings both in lying down and sitting position, weakness can be related to orthostatic hypotension

3. start desvenelafaxine 25-50mg, this helps in all mood and some pain symptoms of menopause

4. take a good multivitamin supplement which has omega 3 fatty acids

5. try to reduce weight by going for daily walks 20min, and increase to twice a day

6. increase salad serving 3-4 times daily, anything which you like can be eaten

7. Stop eating junk food if you do

8. avoid tea and coffee, but can take green tea after meals

9. once weight is reduced, the pain in leg( sciatica) and sleep apnoea will also improve

10. and most important is try to connect to people who have happy disposition, avoid staying alone. Socialization is helpful for both physical and mental well being.

All the best!
