Hello,

I understand that she is in severe congestive heart failure. This leads to the neck veins being distended. She also has regurgitation from the tricuspid valve making the blood gush into the right atrium and then into the neck veins. Her heart rate also might be high. How you can help her more comfortable would be to prop her up with pillows or back rest. This will make the breathing easier and the neck veins will become less prominent. Also restrict the amount of fluids. Her doctor would have given medicines to make her pass urine and to support the heart. Continuing these will make her more comfortable.
Best wishes,
Dr. Noble Zachariah
