Why Will I Be Taken Off From Alendronic Acid?

I have been taking alendronic acid for 2 and a half years without side effects as treatment for early onset osteoporosis in my forearms. It is doing its job effectively. I have been told that it is likely that I will be taken off alendronic acid later this year. What does this mean ? Is it likely that in the future treatment with alendronic acid will be resumed?
