Widal Test Done, Mild Throat Infection. What Do The Results Indicate?
Hi I just had my Widal Test done. The results are as such: S. Typhe "O" Antigen : 1 : 60 S. Typhe "H" Antigen : 1 : 240 S. Paratyphe A(H) Antigen : negative S. Paratyphe A(H) Antigen : negative
I was required to do this test for joining a company. I do not have any fever (just a mild throat infection). Nor have i ever had Typhoid before. What then do these results indicate?
Hi ! The Widal test is positive if TO antigen titer is more than 1:160 in an active infection, or if TH antigen titer is more than 1:160 in past infection or in immunized persons. In your case it is clear that you either had a past infection with typhoid or you have been vaccinated for the same. So no need to worry . take care.
