Will Sulfamathoxacole Medication Work Against Serratia Liquefaciens Bacteria?
I have a UTI caused by serratia liquefaciens bacteria. I took Cipro for 7 days and I still don't feel well. Now I'm on Sulfamathoxacole for 10 days. Should the Sulfamathoxacole work? The doctor said serratia liquefaciens is a odd bacteria. I don't know how I got this bacteria.
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have UTI due to bacteria identified to be Seratia Liquefaciens.
It is difficult to predict whether it will respond to Sulphamethoxazole or not
Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out to which antibiotic they are sensitive to.
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water. To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
