Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a torn meniscus and my knee is still locking after 7 weeks, the swelling had come down and I have not had any surgery.... My doctor had not given me any physiotherapy and I ve been in a brace for the last 3 weeks, waiting for a review on my mri, what are my chances of healing without surgery? Should my knee have more range after 7 weeks? Regards Christine
However, it is difficult to answer your question with only the current information. You've not had an MRI yet which should determine the degree of the tear, and hence the chances of recovery. Furthermore, you don't even state your age. Meniscus loses their blood supply with aging, so the older the less likely to heal. Whether generally speaking it is possible to recover after a meniscal tear, yes it is. Hard to say if that is your case though.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Olsi Taka
