Hi .. Have been having Bisoprolol Fumarate for the last 4 months & noticed that I have been steadily losing hair .. which has increased of late .. Is this drug known to cause hair loss? If I discontinue it will the hair loss be reversed ? Are there safer beta blockers I can use with fewer side effects ?
Bisoprolol fumarate in general do not cause hair fall. It is not a common side effect of this drug to impair any of normal hair function. You can talk to your family physician for the same.
You can take vitamins in the form of biotin, calicium pantothenate and other vitamin B complexes. Increase you protein intake on daily basis and eat sprouts. Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and sprouts which contains vitamins and minerals necessary for normal hair function.
Stop any substance abuse like smoking or alcohol. Wash your hair daily with simple shampoo and do not apply hair oil. Take care.
