Will Flucloxacillin And Klorafect Eye Ointment Remove Cyst?
Hi, 3 days ago I developed a swelling on the inner corner of my left eye which is red and quite painful. I visited my doctor and he said it is a chalazion (meibomian cyst). He prescribed flucloxacillin (500mg) capsules and klorafect eye ointment. My question is, will these antibiotics alone remove this cyst or will I have to have an operation to get it removed. I'm asking because it looks unsightly and I would like to get rid of it ASAP but I'm afraid of the idea of getting it removed surgically. Please help.
Hello It seems from the history that you are having swelling of the eyelid associated with pain and redness. Since it is painful it is not chalazion but it is hordeolum internum. The treatment is by use of antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs. You can use antibiotic flucolaxicillin and antiinflammatory drugs as prescribed by your doctor. Along with this applying hot compression provides symptomatic relief. Chalazion is not painful and it is chronic non infective lesion requires incision and curettage.
Thank you
