Will High Fat Content In Body Decrease The Sense Of Touch?
Hi. So I am a paramedic student and I have the most ridiculous question ever that I have wondered about since I was a kid, but don t have the gumption to ask anyone. Do people with an abundance of fat have decreased sensation to their skin, or does their skin overall have a higher count of nerves than a smaller person?
None of the questions you asked is true. The feelings or amount of nerve endings doesn't depend on fat amount on body. The nerve endings causing feeling sensation are on skin surface and are not in the mussels in order to make the sensation difficult as the fatty lining increases. The sensation depends on the persons sensitivity not on the fatty consistency.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
