Will High Levels Of Alkaline Phosphatase, SGPT And SGOT Effect Foetus?
Hi I am currently in 7th month of my pregnancy and for past couple of months i m feeling itching on whole body specially on hands, legs and foot . I got my LFT done last week and relaized that ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE(pnpp kINETIC),SGPT and SGOT levels are really high ( IFCC method).. ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE - 449 U/L, SGPT is 39 IU/L and SGOT is 47 IU/L. I am really worried is this going to effect my baby ? I ma really worried please suggest ....what precautions i can take to bring it normal ?
Hi. According to your report the levels are really not very high.SGOT and PT are just on top normal limits . Since it is 7th month of pregnancy, the levels may rise and may cause itching all over body. This is called Cholestasis of pregnancy.Consult your dr. and she will prescribe you treatment for that like Udibile and at the same time will also consult physician to rule out any other cause of hepatitis. The only precaution is you will have to repeat the test and remain under strict follow up of your dr. and get scan of fetus with doppler study. If levels rise pregnancy is usually terminated by 37 weeks, if it is due to cholestasis of pregnancy only.Don't worry, everything will be fine. Thanks and take care.
