Will Insulin Ryzodeg 36 Units Bring Down The Glucose Level?
i am a dm2 patient for the past 28 years. i am on insulin for the past 15 years. i used ton take novorapid in the morning and afterrnoon 28 and 26 units respectively.novomix before dinner 30 units. in january this year i underwent angioplasty. i used to mkonitor the glucose level every week. fasting and pp ivariably used to be 250 plus on 14th of this ;month i consul;ted a specialist who adv ised me to take insuloin ryzodeg 36 units in the night do u think this will bring down the glucose level in fastying and pp?

I have seen the details mentioned. Insulin Rhyzodeg (Degludec) is a long acting Insulin analogue, which acts over 24 hours. One injection a day is enough. Being a very long acting insulin, it hardly causes hypoglycemia (low sugar). However, to achieve better control of post food glucose rise, you may still need a rapid acting insulin just before lunch in order to control post lunch hyperglycemia. Only taking 36 units of Rhyzodeg may not reduce after food spike in blood glucose. Once switch over is done you will have to monitor blood glucose regularly to observe how the levels are controlled.
