Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
can lack of physical activity including walking cause back pain. 84 year old male had almenectomy for spinal stenosis to relieve lower back pain. Post op the surgeon said spinal stenosis gone and patient should strech and walk 5 min per day 5 times a day. He doesn't He sits in chair all day long and complains of continued back pain.
as I can understand that you have been operated for spinal stenosis and now have started with Backache again well firstly an operation cannot guarantee you 100%cure and immunity from further relapses. If the back musculature continues to be weak, intervertebral issues could arise leading to relapse of pain. therefore, a light exercise is adviced to strengthen the lower back muscle, important to prevent future problems. your case appears to be a relapse of sine problem, mostly due to weak musculature of back. I suggest an MRI lat lumbar spine and an orthopedician consultation.
