Hello and welcome to HCM, The levels of HCG start increasing soon after conception. The blood and urine levels of HCG are infact an indirect way of confirming pregnancy. HCG level of 20 IU suggests absence of pregnancy or an abortion in case a previous pregnancy was present. The endometrial lining increases in thickness in the first half of the menstrual cycle. The lining reaches a level up to 8-10 mm around ovulation and thereafter during the second half of menstrual cycle, the endometrial lining undergoes secretory change. In order the label the endometrial lining thickness as normal, a complete track of the endometrial lining thickness is required during first half of the menstrual cycle.
