Will Microgynon Be Less Effective Taken With Trimethoprim?
I am on the microgynon contraceptive pill and recently had to be on antibiotics, trimethoprim, for a water infection. Will my pill be less effective because of this? My GP didn t mention it being a problem and I ve read the booklet and looked online but I want to be sure.
There is no know interaction between microgynon pill and trimethoprim. Therefore, your pill is not going to be less effective. Please follow your GP advice.
Rest sure that both pills will help you resolve the respective problems for which they have been prescribed. In case you feel something unusual, please contact your doctor as soon as possible.
Otherwise, continue taking the pills exactly as directed.
