Will Smoking Of Marijuana Aggravate Peritonsillar Abscess?
I was told that I may have peritonsillar abscess so I was given Clindamycin for the infection and Percocet for the pain. I was told not to smoke cigarettes but is it okay to smoke marijuana during this process? Not a lot, but just a small joint or two? Will it make infection last longer?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain smoking Marijuana or any other forms of recreational drugs can aggravate the inflammation that occurs during infection and in case if you are under medication for Peritonsillar abscess you should completely avoid smoking as it can aggravate the infection and inflammation as well as the symptoms of the disease will last longer and there will be increased symptoms of pain and discomfort..
You should not smoke even after the initial phase of infection subsides as there can be recurrence of the active phase of infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
