Will Surgery Be Required For Infected Wound On Ring Finger?
Hi, My dad had his left hand wedding ring finger tip sliced off in an accident 2 weeks ago. It was cleaned in A&E and stitched. However, 2 weeks on it look 100% worse, it has at least doubled in size, we are very worried. Can you advise please? Do yu think surgery will be the best option to prevent infection as the tip of the bone was exposed and covered slightly 2 weeks ago but think stitches must have burst by now with the swelling. Will surgery help healing faster and provide a neater looking finger?
Hi, It seems that there might be having soft tissue infection and producing sloughing and cellulitis. There are all chances of having osteomyelitis of carpal bone of ring finger. Consult orthopedic surgeon and get examined. Scrapping of soft tissue and bone and proper dressing might require along with antibiotic medicines. Ok and take care.
