Will The Ear Perforation Be Protected By Alcohol And Peroxide Rinsing?

I blew my ear drum five years ago. The doctor told me it was fine and it would heal in a couple of months. I just went into the ocean and got water stuck in my ear. It felt like it was never going to come out. But I plugged my nose and blew like I was going to pop my ears and water and air came out my ear. I m guessing the hole in my ear drum never healed. I am now concerned about an infection from the ocean water and have rinsed my ear with half rubbing alcohol and half peroxide. Is this a good or bad idea or should I just leave it alone?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Do not install anything in the ear and rush to an ENT surgeon. You have to get an otoscopic examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
