Will The Swelling And Numbness In Big Toe Due To Some Sting Go Away By Itself ?

My big toe is slightly swollen and a bit numb on the outside. I noticed a few months back when I went swimming I feel this slight sting as if a growth is starting. When I went to doctor he suggested I stop cloing things with my foot and take an anti inflamatory, if not better check back in a month. That was several months ago and I forgot. I just noticed it is numb (partially) and looks a bit swollen again.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

You have spinal canal stenosis which leads to compression of spinal cord which later on supply right lower limb [leg].Due to compression of this nerve root there is tingling numbness in your foot and pain associated with it.

Another differential is mortans neuralgia in which there is neuroma formation between web space of toes.

For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level, and uric acid level

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
