Will Undergoing Extended Cycle Of Contraceptive Prevent Pregnancy?

I have been prescribed an extended cycle 91 day(Levonorgestrel 150mcg/ Ethinyl Estradiol 30mcg). The instructions state to start taking it the first Sunday after my next period. Is it ok to start taking it now, while also using a back up contraceptive for the next week or so, even though I should be ovulating around this time? I want to avoid getting pregnant but also want to avoid getting my period at my wedding. From reading online, it seems that eggs only live up to 48 hrs after ovulation, and sperm can survive up to 5 days, so by using a backup method for the next week it will prevent pregnancy.

You should use a back up method for the days you are not taking pills and on ovulation days so you are protected.
