Wisdom Tooth Extracted, Itching In Tongue, Have A Bacterial Infection. Suggest?
Hi, I ve had a problem with the back right corner of my tongue itching since I had my wisdom teeth removed a few weeks ago. Before I had them out, I had a somewhat vicious bacterial infection in a similar area, but on the gum rather than the tongue. I constantly have a strong urge to scrape the side of my tongue against my molar due to the itch.

It is not a normal or regular feature to see this kind of an itch.A number of reasons could contribute to it...it could be migratory glossitis, suppressed immunity, nutritional deficiencies, emotional stress factors, reaction to anesthetic, a sharp irregular surface on the adjoining tooth etc. I would recommend that you meet a dentist to identify the source of the itch.

I will advise you to keep proper oral hygiene because some time because of extraction wound surrounding area become difficult to clean so there may be some fungal growth.
I will advice you for warm saline rinses, chlorhexidine mouthwash, betadine rinses, & use of tongue cleaner.
If still problem persist than please visit to your dentist for clinical checkup.

hello there, itching on the sides of the tongue can be due to sharp cuspal edges of the adjacent teeth if that is the reason you can ask your dentist for selective grinding of sharp edges. itching is also one of the side effects of local anesthetic solutions administered at the time of removal of wisdom tooth.talk to your dentist about allergies. Do no scarp your tongue against teeth it may lead to readness and inflammation see ur dentist soon.take care

the difficulty may be due to accumulation of food debris at the site of extraction socket.
use betadine or warm saline rinses to maintain good oral hygiene.
use chlorhexidine mouthrinses to gargle.
avoid chewing food in that area.
take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics to heal the socket.

Itching along the tongue towards the teeth may be because of many factors like irregular surface of the adjacent teeth or migratory glossitis can cause it . Even anaesthetic reaction may lead for the itch but usually doesnot persist long. See your dentist so that exact source which is causing itching can be ruled out.

Itching can be due to rough surfaces of the molars against which your tongue is rubbing, i would suggest you to visit the Dentist and get the selective grinding done for the rough surfaces.
It can be the side effect of the local anesthetic administration it will subside after sometimes.
I would suggest you to take lukewarm saline rinses to give a soothing effect.
Follow the post operative instructions given by the Dentist properly.

So i would suggest you visit back your dentist and get thorough examination done,if there is any sharp edges or rough surface present in the affected area get it corrected,if it is a allergic reaction of local anaesthetic agent,it will subside with in few days itself.
So i would suggest you do not scrape your tongue,otherwise it will lead to inflammation and redness.
You can use lukewarm saline rinses for soothing effect.
