Withdrawal Symptoms, Irritable, Change In Personality After Using Prescribed Testosterone Cream For Low Libido. Suggest

Hi, I am a 57 years old woman with very low libido. My doctor prescribed testosterone 1% cream used daily on my skin - I became withdrawn, irritable and my perspective really shifted. Friends noticed the change in my personality and mood.

I have stopped using the progesterone cream and wondered if you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Based from information provided you were having low libido and were prescribed Testosterone 1% as cream to be applied on skin.

Replacing testosterone in women is controversial and it's not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for sexual dysfunction in women.

More over irritable nature and other changes in personality are due to the hormonal therapy.

Please stop using the hormone replacement with testosterone as its not yet proven helpful. More over the stoppage of progesterone is also necessary.

If you still need to increase the libido try using other drugs like antidepressants such as paroxetine (Paxil, Pexeva) and fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem) often lower sex drive. Switching to bupropion (Aplenzin, Wellbutrin) — a different variety of antidepressant — usually improves sex drive. Being a prescription drugs you need to consult a physician.

Thanks, hope it helps.
