Worm Coming Out Of Rectum During Bowel Movement. Reason?
hi my friend found a worm coming out of her rectum today. she said it was 8-9 inches long. she thought she was having a bowl movement that didn't feel quite finished and when she looked with a mirror it was half a worm that she had to reach down and she pulled on it and it all came out without tearing. what would cause this and is it life threatening/////
Hi! No - it is not life threatening. Worm infestation are common in the regions where people walk on the ground bare foot, or by any chance if the vegetables/salads you eat are not washed and cleaned properly. Once it is detected you should consult your family physician who may advise you for a stool test to detect the type of worm one has so that appropriate anti helminthetic drug can be given which usually gives a cure. But recurrent infection can occur if proper personal and dietary hygiene as mentioned above is not observed. There is a type of worm infestation which comes with eating of improperly cooked food , the cysts of which may get deposited in different important organs like muscles, brain, or liver. This kind of worm can give rise to more serious complications. Your family physician may do some other tests to diagnose your problem with the worm. Take care.
