Worms In The Stomach. Is Zentel A Good Medication?

Our pediatrician has suggested taking zentel (one bottle each) for all family members while I asked him about my 2-yr old son's situation wherein we discovered tiny little white worm around his potty area while cleaning him. What's zentel and how's it that adult and infants can have the same dosage? Many thanks for your timely reply. Ajay Jain

Hi,

thanks for writing to health care magic.

Zentel is albendazole.

Albendazole is a antihelmenthic.

The dosage for anybody above 2 years of age is 400mg.

It is rightly prescribed by your doctor.

If the adult members of family do not want to have it in liquid form they can have it in tablet form.

That is a good medicine and has a broad spectrum of action, covering several worms...
The fixed dose of 400 mg is given uniformly, irrespective of age in most simple cases ... Larger doses and longer duration are given in specific situations...
Not all drugs are dosed by age, weight, surface area and so on..
