Would A Multivitamin Intake In Addition To A Magnesium/Calcium/Zinc/D3 Combo Supplement A Good Idea?

I am a female approaching 60. I've never really liked medications, supplements, etc but feel that it's time for a little "insurance". My mother had osteoporosis so I know that I probably need extra calcium. I've also been reading a lot about the value of magnesium and since I suffer some with anxiety and insomnia I've heard this could help. Question...would a multivitamin such as One a Day for women 50+ in addition to a Magnesium/Calcium/Zinc/D3 combo supplement be a good idea?/too much?

Usually the quantity of vitamins available in multivitamin preparations are 5 -6 times more than the daily requirements for a normal person. Our daily requirement of vitamins can be easily met with in a normal person by taking diet rich in green leafy vegetables, pulses and fruits. Hence there is no need for multivitamin preparation unless if a person is suffering from malnutrition, mal absorbtion and if he is not taking diet as mentioned above. Too much of vitamins also may produce harm to our body. Hence if you are taking diet rich in green leafy vegetables and fruits, there may not be any need for these vitamins. However considering your age i feel that your multivitamin tablet can be cut into three pieces and taking one piece a day may do good but no harm.
