Would There Be Withdrawal Symptoms When Stopping The Medicine, Xanax?

Hi there. I purchased access to this service several months ago. Only asked one question. If I still have credit, here's another. I've been off and on Xanax for several years now -mostly on. My current doctor prescribed me 30x .5mg pills with several refills; and did this with the understanding I was only taking these once a week. In reality I've been taking .25 to .5mg daily. At this rate I burned through all my prescriptions quickly. Being that she most likely won't prescribe me more, should I expect physical withdrawal symptoms when I stop? If the answer is yes, I have five left, how would you suggest I take these? For example, should I cut them up, and space them out over the course of a month?

Hi and thank. you so much for this query.

I am so sorry too hear about this mixed up withj your physician concerning the prescription of this drug. Generally we advice a gradual reduction in dosage before stopping. though the risk of withdrawal symptoms is real, it is not guaranteed that these symptoms would necessarily occur.

I will suggest that you take the remaining drugs every other day. This will limit the chances of withdrawal symptoms but you must watch out for them. Some include anxiety, agitation, difficulties sleeping, restlessness, etc. Also, talk with your doctor too find out if stopping the drug is a right thing to do at this time.

I hope you find this helpful and guiding enough. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information if need be. I wish you well.
