Xanax And Lexapro Can Be Taken Together For Controlling Anxiety And Depression?

I have been taking xanax and lexapro once a day for anxiety and depression. I had a bad tooth ache and was given norco. So I been taking all 3 a day....is that okay. I feel fine, the only thing is I get really sleepy but I only take it at night when I m home. And seems like it been helping me control my anxiety, depression and possible bipolar issue.

It is okay. Medicine for your toothache will be only for short term anyway.
You should check about using Xanax for long time because it can be habit forming. Ask your doctor about an alternative which is less habit forming. He/she may suggest Clonazepam or a Z group sedative.
I hope this answers your question.

Psychiatrist Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi's  Response
Hello Welcome to HCM

Lexapro is escitalopram and Xanax is alprazolam. These are good drugs for anxiety and depression. You had episode of toothache and just started taking norco which consists of hydrocodone. Over all there is no risk of taking the drugs together. Escitalopram can decrease the metabolism of drug and will increase the concentration of norco. The increased concentration of drug is causing excessive drowsiness and sleepiness. As per my opinion if pain is controlled then start taking analgesics which are free of opioid drugs like plain paracetamol which is available without prescription.

Taking norco daily will make you dependent and it has deleterious effect on depression also. Don't take these drugs together for long.

Thanks
