Hi please can you help , Ihave had a dull achey pain around the neck mainly under the chin and occasionally in my ears and also my jaw. i also get what feels like a mild tension headache at the back of my head, all these symptoms seem to come and go at different time. It doesn t hurt it s just an annoying ache almost like it s when you have done alot of sit ups and can feel the pressure on the muscles if you have over done it if that makes sense. I have been taking iburfoen and when it aches a bit on a night i use a hot water bottle. It does some to work for a while but guarantees to come back in the day. I have worked in an office now for almost 10 years and have read up that it could be down to posture positioning etc but how will that affect my jaw and ears??? im so confused and worried i don t know what it is or what i can take that will help. can you help? Many thanks

Dear liz
i agree with Dr. Naveen, it is the result of TMJ abnormality. Muscles can be stretched from here more so relief with hot water application is a proof of muscle deep abnormality. Change your habits as advised and try application of prasarni tail or olive oil with light hands and soft massage of region. internally we recommend a herb called ashwagandha.

There are chances of you having Tempromandibular Joint problem. Let me explain to you how this happens. When you over do your exercises, there are possibility of you clenching your teeth and breathing heavily. Clenching of the teeth can cause TMJ problem and the pain is referred to the ear also (hence earache) and because of the exertion, there is pull of the muscles attached to the mandible near the chin hence causing discomfort. Avoid strenuous exercises and chewing hard food for few days.
Take care
Regards
Dr. Naveen Kumar
